It is with our greatest condolences that our father Scott Dunlop Sr. passed away on February 18th, 2026, at the age of 61, following a long battle with Ulcerative Colitis.
Scott is survived by his two loving children, Kaitlyn and Scott Jr., his supportive and kindhearted mother Barbara, as well as his cherished siblings, Dave, Steve, Janice and their extended families.
Scott worked as an Educational Assistant for the Lambton Kent District School Board for many years, and coached multiple youth basketball teams in London and Sarnia between 1988 and 2010. During this time, he showed great compassion and dedication to the development of the students he taught. During his career as an Educational Assistant, he focused on assisting children with behavioural issues and took great care in providing their families with the tools necessary to overcome the difficulties their children faced. He had a positive impact on many people during his time teaching and was always admired by everyone he met.
Before battling Ulcerative Colitis, Scott was an avid golfer and darts player who enjoyed fitness, fishing, camping, and traveling with his family. As he underwent multiple surgeries and recovery for his condition, he still cherished time with his family and friends playing board games and card games, never losing a game of Monopoly. His love for sports will always be remembered whether it was collecting memorabilia or keeping up to date with every hockey, football or golf broadcast.
Our dad always made an effort to show that he cared about the people in his life. He would support us when he could even if he was struggling too. He loved us dearly along with his friends and family and no matter his condition or how busy the world was he would try to reach out and ask how others are doing. He would be happy with every chance that we got to visit as a family, and we will always value the time we were able to spend with him.
Scott was a light that would brighten up a room with his positive energy, always knowing that things would be better with loved ones around. He was so strong through every sickness that he faced, and he courageously fought to recover with the belief that we could all make more memories in the future. We had made many incredible memories as a family with the time he had, and he will be dearly missed.
