Veronica Kathleen Lane (nee Gushue)
June 23, 1943 – July 28, 2020
On Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Bonnie (as she was fondly known) was finally reunited with her beloved husband Ed, after a battle with cancer.
After a brief hospital stay and obtaining the dreaded news of having cancer, Bonnie deteriorated quickly and lived out her final days at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Windermere Road, London, Ontario, which allowed her to be surrounded by her loving family, but all the while missing her beloved cats, Benny & Jovi. When Ed passed in 2017, they were her life!
Loving Mother of Donna & Craig Langille, Paul & Kim Lane, Brenda & Rick Annaert and Nancy & Tom Wearing and a dear Nanny to her grandkids, Christopher & Timothy Lane, Charlie & Mackenzie Wearing and Tyler & Allison Annaert. She will be greatly missed by all.
Daughter of the late Stephen & Mary Gushue of Whitbourne, Newfoundland and survived by her sister’s Sheila Gushue, Edna Whelan and Angela Nugent, her Late brother, James Williams, her Sister/Brother In Laws, Bridget & Eric Way, Esther Lane & Ray Wickens, Rita & Gordon Thomas, Winnie & Richard Lane White, and her many nieces and nephews, Bobbi Gushue, Bill and Tim Warren, Kim & Cory Way, Shawn Thomas, Candace & Michael Lane White, to mention just a few.
Bonnie devoted her life to her family. Anyone that knew her, knew of her family and her cats, and of course her love of baking and making Christmas wreathes. Even in her last days, she shared her love of family to anyone who would listen. The hospital staff at the London Health Sciences centre knew about them and every nurse and doctor she met also knew about Benny and Jovi. They were so kind and caring and always took the time to listen.
For the staff of St. Joseph’s Hospice, although her stay was brief, they quickly got to know her and learned of her family and of course Benny & Jovi. They treated her with kindness and compassion and offered to bring her ice cream ANYTIME, even if that was at 2:00 a.m.
When Ed passed in 2017 Bonnie’s soul went with him – may they rest in peace together. There is a star shining brighter in our sky since they are together again.
Cremation has taken place and a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, as per Bonnie’s Wishes. She will be laid to rest with Ed by her side, in her hometown of Whitbourne, Newfoundland when COVID restrictions have lifted and the family can travel.
In Lieu of Flowers, a donation to the St. Joseph’s Hospice on Windermere Road, London, Ontario, would be appreciated.
