In Loving Memory of Harold Maxwell Black (Max) (1932-2025)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harold Maxwell Black, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. On Friday, February 21st, 2025, in his 93rd year, Max peacefully passed away at his home, surrounded by his beloved wife of 65 years, Gwen, and his loving family.
Born in Montreal on July 1st, 1932, Max lived a remarkable and fulfilling life. A devoted husband to Gwen, he provided unwavering support to his family. Together, they shared over 65 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Max was a loving father to his children, Robert (Susan), Richard (Fawn), and Rod (Carol). His role as a grandfather brought him immense joy, and he adored his grandchildren: Brittnee (Jeff), Julian (Arzo), Savannah, Tyler, Daniel (Brooklynne), Rachel (Kyle), and Jacob (predeceased 2016). He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Mason, Liv, Palmer, and three more expected this year.
A man of many talents, Max dedicated over 40 years of his life to Bell Canada, where his hard work and dedication were admired by colleagues and customers alike. In retirement, Max enjoyed spending winters in Florida with Gwen by his side, welcoming family visits every March. Max formed many friendships over the years and will be remembered for his welcoming personality and sense of humour, which touched many lives. His love for music and passion for life will live on through his family.
A celebration of Max's life will be held on Saturday, March 1st 12:00-3:00 pm, at the Byron-Springbank Legion, 1276 Commissioners Rd W, London, ON.
Max will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace, reunited with his parents, siblings, grandchild, and many friends.
