Obituary of John David Courneya
John Courneya passed away peacefully with family by his side at St Joseph’s Hospice after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer on Saturday May 10, 2025.
He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Kathy and daughter Kate (Ryan), granddaughters Hailey and Hunter, grandson Cameron and loyal pet Maestro. Brothers Paul (Susan), Bob (Ruth Ann), Peter (Jeannette) and Bill (Jan) and many nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Bernie and Roy and son Ryan (2023).
John was born in Peterborough but was raised and spent his life in London. He will be missed by so many and remembered for his sense of humor, friendship and many talents.
Many thanks to friends and family who visited with John in his last months, it meant so much to him. And thank you to the staff and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Hospice for the incredible care and friendship you provided to John and our family for the past 5 weeks.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
