Obituary of Edward James Neeb
With great sadness and surrounded by the love of his family, Ed passed away peacefully at University Hospital on Wednesday July 2, 2025, in his 62nd year, missing his birthday by 28 days. He was a cherished father, grandfather, brother and friend. Ed lost a short battle with heart failure and succumbed to complications. Born on July 30th, 1963, he was the son of the Late Ward (1985) and Ina (2006) Neeb (Ropp). He is survived by his daughter Teresa (Bryon) of Owen Sound, grandchildren, Willow, Tyler, Phoenix and Lilith, sisters Martha of London and Sylvia (Pete) of Zurich, Aunt Luanna Martin (Ropp) of St. Jacobs, niece and nephew Amanda (Paul) and their children William and Benjamin of Parkhill and Jason (Nicole) and their 2 children Matthew and Amanda of Ailsa Craig, and many cousins in Canada and the U.S. He is predeceased by his brother-in-law Jack Neeb (2002), nephew Trevor Neeb (2018), numerous cousins and all but one of his aunts and uncles.
Ed overcame many challenges when he was younger and spent the rest of his life on a better path and learning many trades for contracting. He was a perfectionist in every way and made sure that things were completed right the first time. He made friends easily and would give the shirt off his back. Ed was an amazing caring man who helped friends and neighbours with chores and would not expect anything in return. He loved children and dogs and could never pass by them without stopping to chat or play with them. He was a magnet for children and dogs as he was a child at heart and loved to play.
Ed struggled with pain every day, but you would never know it. He was unable to work for the past 15 years but would find things to fix or do every day to stay mobile. Only people who were close to him knew the pain he was in. Ed cared more for others than himself and would say he was ‘okay’ even if he wasn’t. He had that stubborn Neeb blood in him that would keep him going. His favourite pastime was sitting by a campfire watching the flames and having a beer. He was awesome and many called him that.
Ed’s family would like to thank the MSICU Bay 2 cardiac team of doctors and nurses at University Hospital for their compassion and care while he was in hospital. Ed will be deeply missed by his family, friends and Roxy (dog). Per Ed’s wishes, he has been cremated. A celebration of Life will be held at the Bluewater Community Centre, 14 Mill St., Zurich, Ontario from 12 – 4pm on August 30th, 2025. Bring your stories and your laughter so we can reminisce about the good times Ed enjoyed. As an expression of sympathy, donations of sympathy can be made to the Heart and Stroke fund.
