Lloyd Grove

Obituary of Lloyd Ernest Grove

In the early hours of July 14th, Lloyd Grove passed away at London’s University hospital after having said loving goodbyes to his family.

Lloyd was a man who loved loudly and proudly. Lloyd was the loudest in the crowd, the happiest in the room and the most generous in the community.

He dedicated his life to donating blood; it was his purpose. He donated over 1400 blood products over more than 60 years. He gave the most precious thing someone can give and so many people are alive today because of his generosity.

Lloyd was a pillar everywhere he went. Known in his neighbourhood for his dedication to putting on the best Christmas and Halloween displays for the kids.

At his trailer hung a sign in the front window reading “Lloyds dinner open 24/7”.

Known as the bathtub sailor.

From this ‘diner’ he served warm coffee, endless laughs, a game of lawn darts and cold beer. Everyone came to visit him.

He was the definition of what a neighbor should be. Helpful, selfless and kind.

Lloyd was a loving husband to his wife Doris for over 68 years. When asked the secret he would say; “There’s always tomorrow. No matter what happened today; there’s always tomorrow”.

His first priority was always his family. A loving father to Tim and Michael, a brother, uncle, great uncle, grandfather and great grandfather. A man who will never be forgotten.
