Obituary of Malcolm Joseph Leo Fraser
August 29, 1943 – July 17, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Malcolm “Mal” Fraser on July 17, 2025, at the age of 81, following complications related to Lewy Body Dementia.
Mal was the beloved husband of Suzanne (Scott) Fraser and the devoted father of Barbara Furac (David). He was a proud and cherished grandfather to Hayley Archer and Noah Furac (Natalia), and a stepfather to Scott Drennan (2023) and Jim Drennan (Lorraine). He was affectionately known as Grandpa Mal to Sarah Bastian (Christopher) and Hannah Drennan, and Great Grandpa Mal to Caleb, Joelle, and Isaac Bastian.
Born the eldest of nine children to Leo and Helen (Wood) Fraser, Mal grew up in a large and close-knit family. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Robert Fraser, and sisters Marlene Burke (Dave) and Betty Ann Lazzari (Garry). He is survived by his siblings Michael (Carole), Gene (Barb), Gerry (Julie), Barbara Jean Shipp (Laurie), and Marie Graham (Bob). Mal is also fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and cousins in both the Fraser and Wood families, as well as by his Uncle Gene Fraser (Joan) and aunts Donna Fraser, Florence Auberton, and Frances Fraser.
Mal will be remember by members of the Scott family, his golfing buddies from The Willows, and many former colleagues from his years in the grocery business.
Mal spent his entire working life in the grocery industry, beginning at the age of 16 with Dominion Stores. His career spanned decades and saw him in many roles and locations before retiring from National Grocers (Valu-mart). He was respected and admired by coworkers and customers alike for his dedication, kindness, and work ethic.
Mal lived his last 5 months at Elmwood Place Long-Term Care residence. The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Elmwood Place for the compassionate care they provided throughout Mal’s time there.
A gathering to spend time remembering Malcom will be held on July 24 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the The Willows Golf and Country Club 2124 Westchester Bourne, London.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Mal’s memory to Community Living London: www.cll.on.ca
