Obituary of Sally Jean Jones
Sally “Jeannie” Jones (nee Vaughan) quietly passed away in the evening of August 13th, 2025, surrounded by love, just shy of her 81st birthday.
Beloved mother of Michael (Sharon) Jones, and Christine (Rob) Whitmore, loved dearly by her grandchildren, Taylor (Josh), Dylan (Brooke), Carly (Dan), and Shelby, and her great-grandchildren William, Florence, Eleanor, Bryson and Liliana.
Predeceased by her parents, Ivan and Mary, and her brother, Richard. Jeannie is also survived by her sister Barbara (John), brother Peter (Audrey), and sister-in-law Priscilla. She will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews and cousins from the East Coast to the West Coast. Jeannie will be missed by her swimming friends, and forever cherished by Kirk and CarolAnn.
Jeannie was born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, where they made many memories at MacCallums Point. When she was a young teenager, they left the Island and moved to the Toronto area. She then went to high school in Hanover, before they settled in London.
Jeannie was a woman of many talents. She managed their family owned garage in Granton for almost two decades, and operated the radio for the Granton Fire Department for fifteen years. She managed Mrs. Fields Cookies, worked at White Rose, and ended her working career at Shoppers Drug Mart. After retiring, it gave her more time to pursue activities she enjoyed such as gardening, grass cutting and spending more time with family, helping out wherever there was a need.
Jeannie loved to cook and bake for her family, always know for her delicious pies of all flavours, cherry cheesecake, banana chocolate muffins, and her plethora of cookies. She loved to celebrate all birthdays and accomplishments, and go on adventures from coast to coast. She looked forward to her annual PEI trip every summer, and enjoyed her time visiting the west coast as well. Jeannie had a soft spot in her heart for all dogs in her life, her homemade dog treats were always plentiful and loved by all dogs, from big to small.
Jeannie loved her family and her friends with her whole heart, and never wanted anyone to be worrying about her. She was a very strong and independent soul who lit up every room with her smile, gave the best hugs, and loved to share a meal with her family.
Jeannie was a woman who went by many names throughout her life, and embraced them all: Jeannie, Jean, Jeanno, Mumzie, Mom, Grama, Gramma, Nana, Grandma, Grandma Jean-O.
Jeannie fought valiantly until the very end. She taught everyone around her to live every day to the fullest, to cherish every moment, and to show your loved ones how deeply you care for them.
Special thanks to Dr. Wagner and team, and Huron Hospice for their kindness and respective care.
Donations in Jeannie’s honour can be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation and Huron Hospice if desired.
At Jeannie’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral and cremation has taken place.
