Obituary of Mary Barber

Mary Barber dearly loved wife of Fred for over 72 years, passed away on October 12, 2025 after a battle with cancer.  She was 90 years old.

Mary is survived by her two daughters, Jill Barber-Diestler and Janet (Karl) Cornelius.  Also survived by five grandchildren, Michael (Livia) Cornelius, Emily (Jonathan) Cornelius, Andrew, Simon and Timothy Diestler.  Two great grandchildren, Mila and Ava Cornelius and several nieces and nephews.  Mary was predeceased by her brother John and sister-in-law Pat Ramsey, as well as her brother-in-law Frank and sister-in-law Marjorie Barber.

Mary grew up in Yorkshire, England. After marrying Fred, they immigrated to Canada, settling in London, Ontario.  Mary was the Bookkeeper and Office Manager for Fred Barber Construction Ltd.  She was active with the UCW at Colborne Street United Church for many years.  She was a member of the Huff N Puff line dancing group, dancing at many Retirement Homes for nearly 20 years.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 25th from 1-3 pm at Chartwell Riverside, 201 Riverside Dr, London.

Donations can be made to Cancer Research, St. Joseph’s Hospice of London or Colborne St. United Church in lieu of flowers.
