Obituary of David Ross Shuttleworth
David Ross Shuttleworth passed away peacefully at the age of 84 in the evening of November 6, 2025, at Oak Crossing Long Term Care Facility.
Predeceased by his beloved wife of 53 years, Susan Barbara Shuttleworth (2021), and survived by his children: Christopher (Alecia); Kimberly and her children, Rylan and Peyton; and Catherine (Jeff) Beynon and their children, Hayden, Adeline, and Clara. Predeceased by his parents, James Edgar "Ted" Shuttleworth (2003) and Gladys Ethel Shuttleworth (2005), survived by his siblings: Marilyn (George) Mackay, Kallie Miller, Gordon (Patricia) Shuttleworth, and Nancy Mroz.
Born and raised in London, Ontario, David attended Central Secondary School. He spent his final year studying overseas at Neuchâtel Junior College (Class of 1960) in Switzerland – an adventure whose stories he often retold. David was also active in a local Rover crew, where he established lifelong friendships. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario.
David was an avid gardener who joined the family agriculture business. He will be remembered by many as the owner-operator of the Little Tree Farm Garden Gallery that long stood on Springbank Drive. Later in life, David pursued a portfolio of careers yet eventually returned to agriculture, establishing a landscaping company through which he could continue to pursue his love of gardening.
As a loyal member, David gave generously to the work of Metropolitan United Church.
David and Susan will be inurned together at Woodland Cemetery in a private family service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Metropolitan United Church Memorial Fund in his name.
