These 2 photos recall a kayaking trip circa 2008 that remains deeply memorable. Newer to more demanding kayaking at the time, there was great appreciation for the patient instruction and quiet encouragement offered by Robert and his circle of friends and family. The full journey over the waterfalls and out to the river’s mouth wasn’t completed by all—but as remembered, Robert and Ron were the ones who persevered.
It isn’t certain whether Robert appears in these photos or was behind the camera, but he was very much there, as he so often was—steady, generous, and quietly leading.
Lynne and I were deeply saddened to learn of Robert’s passing.
As neighbours and friends, Robert was known as a man of kindness, humour, and calm presence. From the many tributes shared, it is clear how deeply he touched others—as a husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and friend—and how faithfully he lived the values that mattered most to him.
Eleanor, Leah, Alison, Kathy, George, and the entire Sinden family are held in our thoughts and prayers. May the love Robert gave, and the respect he earned over a lifetime, continue to be a source of comfort and strength to all who gather to honour his life.

Though i haven't had the pleasure of seeing Robert in the last handful of years. Few men in my life meant as much as Robert did. When i was heading into my 20's Robert began taking time each week to meet with me. Over the next few years i don't think i can count a time he cancelled. But he faithfully met with me prayed with me and mentored me. He showed me the simplicity of obedience to Christ and how it is interwoven into every part of life. As i prepared for marriage he taught me servant leadership and what it meant to die to yourself to serve your wife. I lost my job in our first year of marriage and found myself part time in a low paying job and Robert gave me words that i still reflect on today. "Matt There is no work beneath the dignity of men, just men beneath the dignity of work, wherever you find yourself God is doing something bigger than the task in front of. So whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might." Few people lit up a room like Robert did, his laugh was infectious his love was contagious, and his presence brought peace. Peace and comfort be with Ellenore, Leah and Alison and their family in this time. Please find comfort in his life well lived and the certainty of salvation he had in his Saviour Jesus Christ.

Dear Ellenore & Family. Lucy & I are indeed saddened to learn of Roberts passing. How fortunate we were to be acquainted with him & you. Fond memories of our times at LGT & Gateway. Though I haven't seen Robert since our days at the University of Windsor living in the Huron Hall Residence, we were good friends there and shared a lot of laughs together. Dear Alison, Leah, and Family,
Amanda and I are so very sorry to hear of Robert’s passing. While we knew him primarily from a professional standpoint, it was clear that he cared deeply and connected with you as a close friend. He was genuinely interested in how we were doing and the changes within our family—and without hesitation, he would pray over us after our in-person meetings.
Robert was always thoughtful and dedicated in his work, and we truly appreciated the guidance and support he provided. It’s also evident that he was an incredible mentor to both Alison and Leah, as we’ve had the privilege of corresponding with each of you over the past few years.
Please know that we are thinking of you and praying for you during this difficult time. We hope you find comfort in the many lives Robert touched so positively.

I remember Robert fondly and the thought makes me smile. Robert had an incredible sense of humour and was a joy for both my husband and I to be around. His faith was undeniable. He was passionate and always willing to share. I trusted him implicitly to manage my finances - something I was always uncomfortable with prior to meeting Robert. His obvious trust in God's guidance in all his decisions, especially those on behalf of his clients definitely sealed the deal for me. One other memory I would like to share is his amazing knack for acting. I loved him in all the parts he played in past plays at Gateway. He was extremely talented and he took the roles seriously. I will miss Robert terribly and look forward to seeing him again one day.

Dear Eleanor and family my heart is saddened to learn about the passing of your beloved Robert. I cherish the friendship I had with Rob for over 30 years and he had a significant impact on my life. Robert knew just how to balance the seriousness of life with his own brand of special humour. He blessed us for many years as our Small Group Leader. It was a privilege to be a part of his life, even if in a small way. The sadness we all feel reminds us how deeply we loved him. To say he will be missed is an understatement. Dear Ellenore, family and friends:
We were most blessed to meet Ellenore and Robert when they moved into the apartment down the hall from us. I have always enjoyed our “hallway” interactions and light conversations that included many head scratches for their sweet fur baby, Laya. Robert and Ellenore greeted us with a spirit of joy and welcoming that would often take the edge off an otherwise sad, busy, or stressful day, if just for a moment.
Robert has unknowingly taught me one of the most profound lessons in my life. WE, as humans living in a busy world – we take for granted our daily interactions, relationships, and most important, opportunities for growth. We often fail to create an awareness of the true essence of our neighbours or casual acquaintances. These earth angels touch our lives in such subtle ways that we often fail to recognize the miracles they bestow on us until it is too late to say thank you.
So now, Robert, I thank you for your presence in my life for however short or casual it may have been. Please know you made a difference.
I am greatly saddened by the physical loss of Robert for Ellenore, their family, friends as well as their casual acquaintances such as myself. We are blessed to have been touched by Robert's greatness for it will live forever in our hearts. Robert's greatness will be reflected in our choices to change all that we can by leaving us the legacy of being able to make a difference, be it unseen at first, in the lives of all with whom we interact.
Robert has touched our hearts and has taught us the meaning of kindness. When I look into the dark skies at night, I will see Robert's greatness, for he has left his footprint throughout the cosmos.
We will look out upon the world and see beauty and know that Robert and all of our loved ones are still with us.

Robert and I first met when his daughter Leah played ball with my daughter Darbi. He was such a kind and fun man. He became my financial advisor and I got to know the rest of his wonderful family. He was a great friend. RIP Robert. Say hi to Gary for me.

A wise man with a big heart for everyone. First time I met him in his office he asked if he could pray for me. He did. That prayer was answered in about a year.
He loved people and had a big desire to tell people about Jesus’s love for them. He was a wise man who built his house on a firm foundation. Today his family stands strong because of Robert’s love and wise decisions. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him and myself. My deepest condolences to you all.
