Obituary of Bryan Cordick

Hugh Bryan Cordick
February 21, 1947 – January 9, 2026

Hugh Bryan Cordick passed away peacefully at London Health Sciences Centre on January 9, 2026, with his wife and children by his side.  He is lovingly remembered by his wife Margaret, son Gary (Candice), daughter Jennifer, and grandchildren Harlow, Briar, and Tobin.  Bryan was predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Annie, and his brother David.

Born and raised in Woodstock, Ontario, Bryan began his studies in history at Wilfrid Laurier University – then Waterloo Lutheran University – planning to become a teacher.  His path later led him to Fanshawe College, where he studied property appraisal, and he spent 36 years working for the province and then the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation before retiring in 2007.  Despite his change in career focus, his interest in history never faded, and he was always willing to share his knowledge through an informal lesson.

In retirement, Bryan rediscovered his love of motorcycles and enjoyed exploring the quiet back roads around London on his Suzuki.  He also valued the friendships he maintained with former colleagues, meeting them for lunch when he could.  He was an avid reader, favouring news and non-fiction, with the occasional John Grisham novel for good measure.  Watching the sun set over Lake Huron at the family cottage was, in his view, one of life’s greatest pleasures.

Above all, Bryan loved his family.  He was deeply grateful to have his children and grandchildren close by in London and to see them often.

As per Bryan’s wishes, no funeral service will be held.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or charity of your choice.
