Obituary of Mary Ann Beverly Blumson
It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Ann (Nancy) Blumson (nee Pietersma) announce her passing on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Glendale Crossing, in her 89th year. A native of London, Nancy met the love of her life George Blumson while enjoying an evening of dancing at Port Stanley's Stork Club. They soon married and built a life-long partnership lasting 66 years. Nancy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She is survived by her beloved husband George and is dearly missed by her three cherished children, Pat Cleary (Kevin), Gregory Blumson (Chantal), Leslie Pommer (Steven). Nancy was the treasured grandmother to her five grandchildren whom she adored from the moment they were born, and who brought her so much joy and happiness: Derek Cleary, Cassandra Blumson, Mikaela Pommer-Herba (David), Matthew Blumson (Santana), and Joshua Pommer (Christina). Her heart grew to include her loved step-grandchildren Sarah Jackson (Devon) and Christopher Cochrane (Jessalynn). Nancy is also survived by her dear brother, Richard Pietersma and sister-in-law Beth Pietersma, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Dirk and Antonia Pietersma, son Jeffrey Blumson, grandson Zachary Blumson, brother Robert Pietersma and sisters, Barbara Gibb and Patrica Pietersma.
Nancy’s greatest joy was her family. Holidays and family dinners filled her heart with joy. She loved photography, travelling, her cats Bailey and Zoey, and most of all her beautiful backyard on Estella Court where so many wonderful family memories were made. Nancy worked at London Life before starting her family, then spent many years in retail working at Bi-Way before retiring to become a hands-on grandmother. Never missing a school play, dance recital or hockey game.
The family would like to thank the staff at Glendale Crossing, especially Holly, for their care and support over the past two years that Mom called Glendale home. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at a later date.
