Obituary of Bob Brewster

1935 -2026

Bob Brewster, a cherished father to Mark (Linda), Mary Ellen (Keith), and Kelly, and grandfather to Ali, Lindsay, Finn, and Nicole, passed away February 23rd just a few weeks before his 91st birthday.

He is predeceased by his sister Jeanette and survived by his siblings Cathy, Diane, and Bill.  Bob and his wife Marilyn, who passed away in 2024, were married for 62 years and dedicated their lives to their family.

Bob was known for his kind heart and gentle ways.  He was a family man who created countless special traditions and memories for his children, grandchildren, and extended family.  Those memories often included music and he is fondly remembered playing the piano by ear when the family gathered.  A Freemason for 60 years, Bob was an active member of London’s Ashlar Lodge, where he was Master in 1976.  Bob was a dreamer and an optimist who enjoyed connecting with people.  He was a faithful member of Siloam United Church, and continued to belong to the Sunningdale bowling league into his 90’s where he enjoyed the fun and camaraderie of the game.  Bob spent his final three weeks at University Hospital and we are grateful for the excellent care and attention he received from the whole medical team.

In addition, our gratitude goes out to Extended Families who provided great support at home after his wife died, and to Grand Wood Park Retirement Home for welcoming Bob and making him feel at home for the past few months.

A service for Bob will be held at Siloam United Church on June 20th at 2:30 pm.

Memorial donations in Bob’s honour can be made to Siloam United Church, The Cross Cultural Learning Centre where Bob volunteered his time, or Mission Services of London.
