Obituary of Carmen Marie Ashford
May 8th 1947 - February 24th 2026
It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce that Carmen (Breman) Ashford passed away peacefully on February 24, 2026 at University Hospital in London, Ontario with her family by her side.
Carmen was born on May 8, 1947, in St. Paul's Bay, Malta. She immigrated to Canada when she was 5 years old, and lived in London, Ontario with her family. Carmen carried her heritage with quiet pride throughout her life.
She is survived by her beloved husband Louis Ashford; her daughter, Jessica (Breman) Bettencourt and her cherished grandchildren, Clyde, Sergio, and Gisele who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her siblings; Maria, Doris, (Joe), Antoinette (Allan), Gerri (John) and Gaetan (Nancy). She will also be remembered and loved by her nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Carmen was predeceased by her parents; John and Jane Breman; her brothers Patrick and Joe Breman; her sister Monica (Breman) Guymer; her brothers in law Joe Cuschieri and Manuel Corona and her sister in law Rosemary Breman.
Carmen was a gentle and sweet soul with a resilient spirit. She loved to read, especially romance novels and sing and dance around the house listening to her favourite music. She found great joy in making pottery for various occasions. She had an infectious laugh that could brighten any room, and a warmth that made people feel safe and welcome. Above all, she had a love that was unwavering and unconditional. Her presence was a gift, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
