Annalee Jaynes

Obituary of Annalee Doreen Ethel Jaynes

It is with profound grief that we announce the passing of Annalee "Buttercup" Jaynes. After a valiant struggle with kidney cancer, Ann left us peacefully Monday, March 23rd at 12:45 pm.

Ann was born Jan 25th 1942 and was the youngest of her 2 siblings, Tom Hosie and Karen Hosie (predeceased). She went on to work as a Canadian National Railway administrative clerk for ten years in both the Sarnia and London offices, then into a receptionist position alongside Carole McGuire her best friend at Peter MacGregor Tower for 8 yrs.

During her tenure in Sarnia, she told friends that there was a gentleman on the 1st floor she had to meet. Needless to say, she got her way and within 3 years she married her love, Dennis. That 51 year strong union afforded 2 sons - Timothy Myles George Jaynes (Kathleen Davidson)  and Bradley Albert Jaynes (Kristin Jaynes) as well as her pride and joy, grandsons Graham and Luke.

Ann was a voracious reader of books and bordered on mastering sudoku and the London Free Press crosswords. She kept up to date with technology, often reaching out to all comers over Facebook, and keeping up with her grandchildren often over FaceTime many times a week. She also loved snuggling with her many feline friends over the years: Booters, Nessie, Stanley and Frankie.

Ann loved the water, spending 17 years wintering in Sanlan RV Resort enjoying the ocean and inlets of The Sunshine State. Sanlan was a place where many good friendships were formed over "happy hour" where folks would bring various foodstuffs to share and a cocktail or two would flow.

And of course the family cottage on Pigeon Lake where the summer pilgrimage allowed for warm lake breezes, cool swims out to the floating dock, chopping and stacking firewood with her Dad, mosquito bites and those unforgettable early morning loons calls along with the intoxicating early morning aroma of percolating coffee.

She will be missed by numerous friends and neighbours, and will be endured lovingly in the hearts by all her families: the Jaynes’, the Hosies’, the Kings’, the McCoos’ and the Smiths’.

All in all she was a beautiful, loving, caring (and sometimes fiesty person).
