Aldis Murray

Obituary of Aldis Pauline Murray

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt Aldis Pauline Murray. Born in 1942 in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Aldis peacefully left us on the 13th of April, 2026, at the age of 83 in her London, Ontario home. With Aldis’ departure, we remember a life lived with immense love, strength, and a constant sense of caring. Her passage has left a void that can never be filled.

Aldis was a gentle soul - a generous, loyal, and kind person. In her youth she was a dancer and majorette. Later as a university student she carried the banner and led Western’s Marching Band. She enjoyed adventures too. She travelled to England and across Europe in her twenties and later drove across the U.S. from London to San Francisco by car with her sister Nancy.

Aldis became a teacher in London and later in Alberta where she settled with her husband and raised her family. There she was an active member of Daughters of the Nile and Toastmistress. When she returned to London, after being diagnosed with MS, her response was resilience. With a determination rooted in her Icelandic Viking heritage, she lived a full and independent life on her terms. She enjoyed theatre and took trips to Stratford and had season’s tickets to The Grand. She went to Home County, Sunfest, and the Western Fair. She enjoyed it all. She was an active member of First St. Andrew’s United Church and a founding member of The Jane Austen Society. Her home was the gathering place for family parties. She welcomed everyone. She was especially loved by nieces and nephews for Valentine’s Day and Christmas Eve parties. She always remembered birthdays and special events with cards and gifts. It was one of the many ways she showed love and kept strong family ties within the generations.

Aldis was predeceased by her husband, Joseph H. Murray, her brother, William F. Johnson, and her parents, Magnus and Pauline Johnson.

Aldis will be greatly missed by her 2 children Krista (Wesley) Radstaak and Joseph Murray, 7 grandchildren Bridjet, Lochlan and Lilja (Radstaak) and Ava, Magnus, Axel and Abbi (Murray), sisters Nancy Johnson (McCurdy) and Marion Johnson (Denny), brother Edward (Sharon) Johnson as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends who were all close to her heart.

A Tribute Service will be held on Saturday June 27, 2026 at First St. Andrew’s Church in London, Ontario at 2:30 pm with a visitation from 1:30 pm to 2:15 pm to honour and celebrate Aldis’ life. Her future interment will be with her parents at Woodland Cemetery in London, Ontario. Online condolences may be offered at www.woodlandcemetery.ca.
