JOHN EDWIN SIM

May 16, 1947 – May 5, 2026

John Edwin Sim passed away peacefully in his home on May 5, 2026, surrounded by the love of his life & family, just days shy of his 79th birthday.

Born on May 16, 1947, John was a man who found his greatest joy in the company of others or a good book. He was the beloved son of the late John and Dorothy Sim and a dear brother to Janet (Ulrich) Weber.

For 41 wonderful years, John shared a beautiful & vibrant life with his wife, Wendy. He was a devoted husband even in his final moments.

John’s legacy will be carried forward by his seven children and their spouses, who were always a point of pride: Jeffrey (Michelle) Sim, Joel (Jennifer) Sim, Jason (Tammy) Sim, Mandy (Colin) Halward, Victoria (Eric) Kimberley, Heather (Comacho) Francis and Meghan (Andrew) Gilbank.

He was always boasting about his 16 grandchildren: Karlyn (Josh), Taryn (Richard), Hayden, Haley (Marcus), Morgan, Natalie, Carson, Kira, Jaxson, William, Brooklynn, Colton, Maddison, Noelle, Camryn, and Mikayla. He was also the proud great-grandfather to Olivia and Elizabeth, with another addition to the family on the way.

Those who knew John will remember him for his easy laugh and his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. Whether he was perfecting his swing on the golf course, playing a round of cards, listening to his favourite classic rock songs or enjoying a glass of good bourbon with those he loved.

He will be deeply missed by his family, many friends, his dog Marshmallow, past colleagues & the Port Stanley community.

He leaves behind a void that can only be filled by the many stories and memories he created over nearly eight decades. Cheers to a life well-played John.

Celebration of Life to be held on June 4th at the Kettle Creek Golf & Country Club at 1pm. (320 Carlow Rd, Port Stanley).

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Barrie Family Hospice of Elgin or Campfire Circle is greatly appreciated.
