Obituary of Melville St. Clair Frederick Jackson

It is with great sadness that the family of Melville St.Clair Frederick Jackson announces his passing. Melville passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, just three days shy of his 94th birthday.

Mel lived a long and meaningful life as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He shared a lifetime of love with Evelyn, knowing from the moment they met that she was the one. Mel was intelligent, humble, genuine, and deeply principled. He built his life through hard work, curiosity, and care for his family. He enjoyed history, politics, travel, cars, investing, and meaningful conversation. Mel will be remembered for his sharp mind, dry humour, independence, and quiet love. He leaves behind a family shaped by his strength, character, and example.

Melville is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Evelyn (Pennacchietti), his daughter Sandra Covelli (Aldo), and his brother Douglas (Alison). He was the dearly loved grandfather of Kristina Covelli Lopez (Dino) and Joel Covelli, and the proud great-grandfather of Kruz and Rielle Lopez. He was predeceased by his son, David St. Clair Jackson. 

A memorial service will be held at Woodland Cemetery Section AE, North East, on June 11th at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
