Shirley Eileen Lauzon (née Hohner/Ward)

July 2, 1955 – June 15, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Eileen Lauzon, who left us peacefully on June 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Shirley was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness, strength, and sense of humor touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she took immense pride in watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow.

She leaves behind her loving children: Tammy Roy (Steve), Amy Hohner (Jason), Tina Barnes (Nick), Joey Lauzon, Brian Gilks (Ashley), and Terri Gilks. She was a cherished grandmother to Cameron, Maddy, Jenna, Shealynn, Sandy, Hailey, Braydon, Joseph, Micheal, Hunter, Taryn, and Shyanne, and a proud great-grandmother to Aria and Sterling.

Shirley is survived by her sisters, Marlene and Sharon, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.

She was predeceased by her beloved mother, Edna Florence Hohner, and father, Ronald Richard Ward; her brothers, Ken, Doug and Bob; her sister, Jean; and Brian Gilks, who shared many years of life, love, and family with Shirley. Brian was the devoted father of Brian and Terri and a cherished father figure to all of her children. His presence, guidance, and love helped shape the family they built together, and his memory continues to be held close by those who knew and loved him.

Shirley is survived by her former husband and dear friend, Joseph Lauzon. Although their marriage ended, their friendship never did. Through the years they remained close, sharing a bond built on mutual respect, care, and family. Joseph was by Shirley's side, offering comfort, companionship, and unwavering support throughout her illness and in her final moments.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Shirley's niece, Nancy Pearce, whose love, compassion, and unwavering support during Shirley's final days meant more than words can express.

The family would also like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at Sisters of St. Joseph's Hospice. Although Shirley's stay was far too short, the care, dignity, compassion, and kindness shown to her and her family will be remembered for a lifetime. During one of life's most difficult journeys, the staff provided comfort, support, and peace beyond measure. Their extraordinary dedication touched our hearts in ways that words cannot adequately express, and we will forever be grateful for the love and compassion they showed to Shirley and those who loved her.

Shirley will also be deeply missed by her faithful companion, Snuggles, whose presence brought her comfort and joy.

Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Shirley's love, laughter, and spirit will live on through the family she cherished so deeply. Her memory will be carried forward in every shared story, every family gathering, and every act of kindness inspired by the love she gave so freely.
