Stanley and his wife first emigrated to Timmins, Ontario from Scotland to work in the gold mines in 1960. Their life led them to London, Ontario where he worked several jobs to support his family. He retired as shipping supervisor of Bendix automotive in 1992 to continue working a bed and breakfast with his wife in Niagara Falls for 13 years. They then move back to London in the year 2000.
