Obituary of Roy John Malin
Surrounded with loved ones by his side Roy Malin passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026 at London Health Sciences Centre-Victoria Hospital, at the age of 58.
Born in Toronto Ontario, Roy spent most of his life in London Ontario, where he lived out loud with an unmistakable energy. Anyone who knew him knew exactly where his heart was. He held a lifelong interest in Motorcycles and Cars, a deep love for rock ‘n’ roll (The Tragically Hip, Guns N’ Roses, Matthew Good Band plus many more) and later in life he could be found cheering loudly during the NASCAR races, most dedicated to Tony Stewart. “ Start your engines “ he would shout. He truly appreciated the open road, the power of a great tune, and the thrill of the race track.
Roy was a man of great heart and energy, who also faced a courageous battle with addiction throughout his life. While these complex challenges were part of his story, they did not define the entirety of who he was. Though his journey had its struggles, his family chooses to remember his resilience, his vibrant spirit, and the deep love he held for them through it all.
Roy leaves behind his children Natasha Malin (Greg Davidson), Patricia Malin, Jesse Malin, Robyn Malin, and his bonus daughter/friend “Sam” Malin. A grandfather to 7 grandsons. He was also the proud younger brother of Greg Malin.
He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Joyce Evelyn Malin.
Roy’s oldest daughter Natasha has requested those that knew and loved Roy to always remember the giggles, laughs and great times they had with him as she will forever cherish those memories. In his last months not able to keep anything down, Roy could drink a rootbeer in seconds leaving everyone speechless. This was a laughing conversation on multiple occasions. So please drink a rootbeer in honor of a funny, strong, courageous man.
The family would like to Thank the CCTC and palliative team at London Health Sciences Centre Victoria hospital. As well as a heartfelt Thank you to McCormick home.
A celebration of life will be held privately with the family at a later date.
Though we are heartbroken to say goodbye, we take comfort knowing his earthly battles are over. As his favourite band sang
“He won’t travel long alone…No, not in Fiddler’s Green” - The Tragically Hip.
Rest in sweetest Peace Dad.
