I was so sorry I couldn't join the family in today's celebration of Mel. I had previous obligations but my thoughts were with you. I got to know Mel as one of my husband's table mates at Oakcrossing. Mel was thoughtful, observant and kind. If my husband hadn't been given a bib for the meal, Mel would make sure he got one. If I started to leave the table without my water bottle, he would get my attention and point it out. If watermelon was served for dessert, he would ask me to pass the salt and he poured it all over the watermelon! I had the privilege of often cutting Mel's meat if the PSW's were busy. I was shocked and saddened by Mel's sudden passing and I want to express my deep condolences to the family. I was honored to be able to join Cindy and Tim in paying my respects to Mel. Thank you for that privilege which I will always treasure.
