Obituary of Linda May Glover

Linda May Glover

Linda was born in Stamford England July 5th, 1946 to John and Edith Gray of Manton, Rutland.  Linda was in the middle of 11 children 7girls and 4 boys.

In 1963 Linda Immigrated to Canada to live with her older sister, Thelma and husband Louis.  Louis was stationed in Bagotville Quebec with the Royal Canadian Air Force.  Linda met her future husband (Al) (also in the RCAF), and they married on August 20th, 1966.

While stationed near Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, their son Allen was born December 4th, 1967.  From Saskatchewan, Al and Linda, with Allen were transferred to Baden, West Germany in 1970.  While in Germany, Linda gave birth to Shane (1973), a name Linda picked for our daughter.

From Germany We were transferred to Gypsumville Manitoba in 1975.  After two years at Gypsumville, Linda and family were again on the move to Beausejour Manitoba.

In 1980, Al Joined the RCMP and was transferred to Winnipeg where Linda and family resided until Al’s transfer to London Ontario in 1995.

Throughout all the moves and change of jobs, Linda never complained about her life and as her husband, I was truly grateful for that.  We made many close friends over the years in various places like Lou and Wes Heber of Saskatoon, the Merk’s Gang in Winnipeg and here in London.

Linda held many interests and activities over the years. In her earlier years Linda enjoyed badminton and bowling.  Linda would often watch tennis while knitting a sweater for a family member.  She enjoyed outings with them when she visited her family in England or friends for a game of housey/bingo.

Linda adored her three Grandsons Sam, Sterling and Carter.  She created many memories with them when she visited.

We may not have ever exhibited our love for each other openly, but we cared deeply for one another and Allen, Shane and I, as well as her family in the UK and many friends will miss her greatly.  A special mention should be given to her long-time friends Tom and Sandy Elliott of Calgary Alberta, who have known Linda and raised their kids together since 1967.

As per Linda’s wishes, she requested a private cremation service with just immediate family members.  A celebration of Linda’s life may be arranged at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Bladder Cancer Society.

You will always be in my heart.

Al

Do Not Stand At My Grave and Weep

By Mary Elizabeth Frye

Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there; I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow,

I am the diamond glints on snow,

I am the sun on ripened grain,

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,

I am not there; I did not die.
