Obituary of Giannina Guidita Maniago
Maniago, Giannina passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on February 27, 2018 at Strathmere Lodge in her 85th year. She is survived by her daughters Gabriella (David), Laura, Sandra (James), her grandchildren Anthony and Bianca and her sister Bruna (Silvano) and many nieces and nephews in Italy and Venezuela.
Born in Arzene, Italy on November 1, 1933 - All Saints' Day - an auspicious date as Giannina was often described as a saint. Giannina started her life as an Italian-Canadian in September 1958 when she docked at the iconic Pier 21 in Halifax. She then travelled by train to London, Ontario to meet the love of her life and her husband for 50 happy years, Pietro Maniago (2008). They shared a love for family, gardening and dancing. They embraced their Canadian life while honouring their Italian roots.
Giannina always extended a helping hand and offered a meal to anyone she met. She was kind, compassionate and always smiling. She devoted her life to caring for others. On Saturday, March 10th at 1:00pm the family invites you to a mass followed by a reception at St. George Parish, 1164 Commissioners Road West, London (Byron). Cremation will have taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Strathmere Lodge (Strathroy) and the Alzheimers Society London-Middlesex.
