Caro Jane Gatfield

Caro passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at LHSC University Hospital, London Ontario, on Sunday March 18, 2018. In her final days, she was battling pneumonia and sepsis. Caro (Big Momma, Mom, Granma, Aunt Caro), was the beloved and dedicated wife of the late Dave Gatfield (d. March 16, 2018). They had been happily married for 61 years (July 7 1956, Windsor, Ontario). A caring and dedicated “Mom” to Christopher Paul Gatfield (Anne), (Mill Bay, BC); Edward Armstrong Gatfield, (London Ontario) and Charles Tea Gatfield (Aida), (Arva, Ontario). Adored and treasured grandmother of Max Gatfield (Vancouver, BC); Kate Gatfield (Vancouver, BC); Oliver Gatfield (London, Ontario); Noah Gatfield (Arva, Ontario) and Teja Gatfield (Arva, Ontario). Loved by many nieces and nephews. Survived by sisters-in-law, Elizabeth (‘Sis’) Thomson, Pam Morrison, Marnie Gatfield (all of Windsor, Ontario) and sister, Jill (Armstrong) Hope, (San Francisco, USA). Preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Joan McBride (Joe); brothers-in-law, Bill (‘Mooney’) Gatfield, Bill ‘Giant’ Thomson and Denny Morrison (all of Windsor, Ontario). Caro also had a loving relationship with the late ‘Aunt’ Jean Goodwillie (Windsor, Ontario) and Nela ‘Baba’ Blazanovic (Arva, Ontario). Caro was a former school teacher, an amazing homemaker, artist and a real dog lover. She cherished her times at the rink and soccer pitches with her grandchildren. We’ll miss her sense of humour, quick smile and unique personality. Most of all, we will miss her strength, certainty and devotion. At her request, no visitations or funeral service will be held. Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will be determined at a later time. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors and medical teams at University Hospital and to family and friends for their ongoing support.
