Obituary of Robert (Bob) Hasen

Passed peacefully at AMICA, surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 16, Robert (Bob) D. Hasen, of London, in his 94th year.

Predeceased by his wife of 56 years and mother of their four children, Lois (Dowsley), and his second wife, Roberta “Robbie” (Marman). Loving father to Steven, Greg (Debbie), Laurel-Ann Hardie (Jim) and Glenn (Dora), cherished Grandpa/Papa to Lindsay, Julie, Kelly (Hasen) / Leigh Ashlyn and Scott (Hardie) and Great-Grandfather to Alex, Jillian, Ben and Max.  He will also be missed by Matthew and Lauren Cueto and Jennifer and Georgia Marman.

Born in Toronto, Ontario, he enlisted in the RCAF at age 17, training as a wireless air gunner (WAG), during WW II. Upon his safe return, Bob worked as a draftsman, married Lois, and then moved into sales followed by a long career with 3M Canada. Bob was Executive Vice-President, 3M Canada upon his retirement in 1988.  He loved golf, fishing, hunting, hockey and beer.

Bob will be remembered for his sarcastic yet friendly humour, his attention to detail, and fierce loyalty and generosity to family and friends.

The family is grateful for the support from the many caregivers he has had through his recent illness, especially the wonderful staff at AMICA, the LHIN palliative care team, St. Elizabeth, the VON and Holy Family Parish.

A family service, inurnment and celebration of life will be held after the winter thaw in late June.

Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Bob may consider The Lois Hasen Memorial Fund (established with Fanshawe College Foundation in support of students training to be Personal Support Workers), or a local charity in need of support.
