My soul is saddened to see this news. I had the opportunity to share with Ken and Marilyn in Colombia. Their big heart, simplicity and gift for people showed to me a way of seeing and living life.
They invited me to Canada and it was my opportunity of a lifetime, because I learned a different way of seeing the world and getting to know Canadian culture.
I hope to contact Marilyn, Andrew or Emily, who I knowed in Wasaga beach in 1996.

Please accept our deepest heartfelt condolences at this most difficult in your lives. May you draw strength from your wonderful family and friends. We wanted you to know that people beyond your circle of friends and family are thinking of you at this time of sorrow and remembering our brief meetings with Ken. Sending blessings to your family.

Dear Marilyn and family,
It's over half a century since I lived for two years with Ken and Warren in St. Catharines, while attending university, but I remember those were some of the happiest days of our lives. They’re as vivid today as if they were yesterday.
We studied together, travelled together, ate together, discussed great ideas, and occasionally--just occasionally mind you--had a draft or two at the Mansion House in downtown St. Catharines. Ken was a student of history and enjoyed the grand narratives of European and Canadian history. He had a deep connection with his Scottish roots and wore his Ramsay tartan with great pride. He loved the 'pipes and the occasional dram. He was like many prime ministers of Canada (including Macdonald, Diefenbaker, and Trudeau), a loyal Canadian with Scottish roots. He certainly took pride in his country, and through his volunteer work, showed his true character as a generous human being in every sense.
But his greatest pride was the love of his life: Marilyn Secord. There was never anyone other than Marilyn. It was quite remarkable. I never did find out when they first met, but it may have been in a dream perhaps before they first set eyes on each other. There never was
anyone else.
If ever there was a pair destined to be with one another, it was Ken and Marilyn. And when they married and had Emily and Andrew, the same bond formed with them and extended to their spouses and grandchildren. There never was any doubt that family and friends meant everything to the Douglas/Ramsay/Secords.
It was my great privilege to have known you Ken and your lovely Juliet. We’ll all be joining you soon enough in the Northern Lights.
Good night, good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow, That I shall say good night till it be morrow.
Slàinte mhath mate,
David Warrick

Dear Marilyn and family,
If I remember correctly, the last time that I saw Ken and you was a surprise visit at my Sundridge home around 1975. I often
thought of Ken as a happy bear. He was rarely down and always willing to help anyone. I hope that all of you will find solace in
your memories of him and your love for each other. I am sorry for your loss. It seems he had a successful family life and that
is a very good thing.

Ken had extra ordinary people skills.
He would lead when the situation called for it.
He could work alongside individuals or a group.
He would and did support individuals, groups or cause for the common good.
He was known favourably and well by all who knew him.
We remember the good times we had with Ken and Marilyn in
Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Florida and Alabama. He will be missed.
Our sincerest condolences got out to Marilyn and all the family.

My sincere condolences to Andrew, Emily and the Douglas family. From the stories that Andrew has shared with me, Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather and mentor to his family and will be deeply missed. A donation has been made directly to the Terry Fox Foundation in memory of Ken Douglas.

The saddest news one could ever get. This Man brought me back to becoming an active part of the Royal Canadian Legion in Collingwood. He introduced me into being an active part of enjoyable member of the Branch. I know he has suffered and now Rests in Peace. He made Dianne feel welcome at Legion events and we asked the Lord to take away his pain and now he has. Lest we Forget. Donald and Dianne Wilcox.

Ken fought long and hard over the years with Cancer. I remember crossing the finish line in Ilderton when I completed the 10 km Terry Fox run while his son, Andrew, carried a full size canoe. I saw tears in his eyes because it meant so much to him. He was passionate and dedicated to finding a cure for this terrible disease. We will miss his laughter and infectious optimism. Our thoughts are with the Lewis and Douglas families during this hard time.
