Born April 13, 1939, in Chatham Kent County.

Bill passed away in his 81st year, peacefully on May 1st, 2019 at Parkwood Institute surrounded by his loving wife Irene and his children.

Bill was a loving and kind man with a great sense of humour. He was our voice of reason and always had open arms to care for us when we needed him most. He had a way of making those he cared about feel valued and special.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Irene Clingersmith (Sample) and his children Brenda (Terry) Hull, Roger (Brenda) Bourdeau, Debbie (Gray) Greenway, Karen (David) Dennis, and Kelly (Gavin) Taylor. Beloved grandpa/papa to Peggy (Shawn), Lauren, Christopher (Shelby), Paige, Jeremy, Samantha (Ednes), Kelsey (Hunter), and Ryan and great grandpa/papa to Ajdin, Ajla, David, and Ali.  He will be missed by his sister Marion Walsh (Clingersmith) and his many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Birdie Clingersmith and brothers-in-law Allan Sample and Joe Walsh.

As per Bill’s wishes cremation has taken place. Family, friends and those whose lives Bill touched are welcome to join his family for a celebration of his life, on Saturday, June 1st at Chalmers Presbyterian Church at 342 Pondmills Road, London (Pondmills & Commissioners).  Memories and tributes to Bill will be shared from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. All are welcome.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff on B5 at LHSC – University Hospital, and to the staff on the Palliative Care Unit at Parkwood Institute.  We can not thank you enough for the special care you provided to Bill during the final days of his life. You allowed him to pass with dignity and comfort.  We are immensely grateful that you were there to care for Bill and our family during this very difficult time.
