Dear Heather, Maria and family. I am deeply saddened to learn of Jim’s passing. Such a difficult time to have such a loss for your family. I so admired his quiet strength and acceptance and continued positivity. He was inspiring in that. Gods blessings to you all for strength, peace, love and healing. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Heather and Family, our deepest sympathies on your loss. We will always remember our Compassion trip to the DR with you and the lovely dinner we shared in London a number of years ago. We have been making inquiries about you over the last years and have been praying that you would together enjoy Jim’s final days on earth. Love ~ Pam and Rolly Laing, Calgary, AB

Dear Heather & family,
I had the privilege of meeting Jim at RMC when I arrived from CMR St. Jean (Fall '77) through various Christian groups including the 9TH Sqn bible study group facilitated by the Navigators' Tom Taylor (who would challenge us if we showed up w/o our bible, saying, "well you didn't forget your pants, did you?").
Jim was super steady and was a model cadet, later a fast-tracking and highly respected naval officer, and exhibited balance and such moral integrity that the rest of us could only hope to emulate. I considered Jim a spiritual big brother and greatly appreciated his hospitality in welcoming me with open arms to often stay with him and James in their Dartmouth apartment (early 80s).
I regret not seeing Jim for decades but will fondly cherish memories of him and especially his laugh when for instance, I would cringe when we met with the Queen's U. Christian group and the Butterfly Song would be sung!
May God bless and hold you close in this new chapter,
Eric

It was an honour to know Jim the short time we did. He was the best next door neighbor anyone could wish for. We always looked forward to his caroling group every Christmas season. His battle with his illness was fought with a stoicism and courage that was truly inspiring. Jim, you are dearly missed. God bless you.
