On Sunday December 27, 2020 Joyce Daniel (nee Cox) passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario, Canada.
Beloved daughter of Alonzo (Allen) Cox and Elcita (Dolly) Cox (nee Pollard). Cherished sister of Maureen Hospedales (nee Cox), Jacqueline (June) Cox, Carol Cedeno (nee Cox) and brother-in-law Clive Cedeno, Keith (Jason) Cox and sister-in law Elisabeth Guilbaud-Cox.   Predeceased by siblings Elrick Cox, Kenrick (Louie) Cox and Angela O’Brien (nee Cox). Married to Herman Daniel, their union produced four daughters Talibah (Hazel) Daniel, Wendy Daniel-Lenson, Candy Flash (nee Daniel), and Crystal Daniel.  She is also survived by her three grandchildren Kyle Flash, Kenyon Flash and Malcolm Daniel; her sons-in-law Mark Johnson, Scott Ramsey and Lance Flash; and special friends Wesley and Wilma Prescod, Anthony and Magnell Robinson, Elsman and Vilma Francois, Margaret Price and Kim Moore.
Joyce, or “Veda” as she was affectionately called by her family and close friends, was born in San Fernando, Trinidad on March 13, 1935.  She immigrated to Canada with her husband in May 1968 and spent her entire career as a Nurse’s Aid at Victoria Hospital in London, Ontario.   She worked diligently in the Operating Room for 27 years and was a mentor to many of her co-workers.  She retired in 1995.  Joyce was a kind and generous person who loved to cook and bake. She dedicated many years to community work and was an active member of the London Chapter of the Congress of Black Women. She was also a member of St. Stephen’s Anglican Church.
