Ronald Brunke

Obituary of Ronald Wilfred Brunke

It is with great sadness that Ronald Wilfred Brunke passed peacefully in his 90th year at Westmount Gardens LTC in London, Ontario. Ron was born in Ottawa and raised in Point St. Charles, Quebec. This is where he met the love of his life Andree Dagenais from Verdun Quebec. Together they built a beautiful life for the past 64 years, raised 3 children in Quebec and moved to Ontario in 1992. Ron is survived by his wife Audrey, his children Richard (Kim) Brunke, Steven (Helene) Brunke, Peggy Ann Brunke (Robert Tollett). The joys of his life were his grandchildren Scott and Sarah Brunke, Greg and Andrew Brunke, Thomas and Christina Tollett (Tschritter) and Lilian Audrey Tschritter, Ron’s great granddaughter.

There were many camping, canoeing, golfing and travel adventures across Canada and USA in his VW camper to his fifth-wheel. Ron loved to work with his hands being a pipefitter at Shell Canada, self-taught mechanic, woodworker, bowler, gardener or whatever project the kids had going on. Ron was always there to give anyone a helping hand. His generosity spilled over into his family and friends. Ron is also survived by his sisters Doreen Biggs, Rita French and brother Douglas Brunke and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents William and Mary Brunke (Nelligan), his brothers Frank Brunke, Gordon Brunke and sister Barbara (Brunke) Conlon. Ron also leaves behind lifetime friends and former neighbors in Quebec, Ernest and Felicia Staub, “little” Ernie, Liz and “little” Felicia. Their friendship over the years has been cherished and so much a part of Ron’s life.

It is with sincere appreciation that we thank all the staff at Westmount Gardens LTC for the excellent attention given to Ron on the Lily floor the past 5 years. The Brunke family is very grateful to have shared this life with one of the most selfless and beautiful people for as long as we have. Ron will live on in our hearts for generations to come. May he rest in peace.

Cremation has taken place at Woodland Cemetery. Interment will be made at a later date. Donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Society London and Middlesex 519-680-2404 (www.alzheimerlondon.ca)
