Dearest Diane and all family members. While everyone is rightly sending condolences to the survivors, we must remember that someone else experienced a loss as well, and that is Diane herself. I was reminded of this when I read the beautiful and simple Arapaho prayer for the dead.
You will not see the sun rise in the east again,
nor will you see the moon in all its brightness in the night sky, nor feel the wind on your face, nor the earth beneath your bare feet.
Today you are going home.
May the ancestors greet you and show you the way.
May your journey be joyful.
Rest well my dearest sister. Barb

This photo was taken in 1995 before Diane was diagnosed. All of my sisters are very strong women and Diane demonstrated her strength in all of life challenges particularly after she was diagnosed with cancer. She went on living her life as best she could. Diane was the sweetest sister, always with a smile giving support, her Diane wisdom and comfort. My heart breaks with the loss of her in our family. She held a very special place as sister number four. I'll be seeing you Diane. (Geri)

Dear Diane,
I am so sad you have left us. I am so happy you are free. Thank you for being the kind, loving, smiling, laughing sister that you were with us, and always a breath of fresh air. Your death is such a loss to the whole family and it will never be the same without you. You will always be in our hearts and that is a consolation, along with warm memories. I love you.

DIANE DEAREST SISTER AND FRIEND, a lover of spontaneous adventure; sharing road trips, cross-border shopping junkets, theatre, cottages, and so much laughter and fun, a great playmate. Such a long and difficult journey for you, ending in peace and freedom. Until we meet again, love always--Sheila.

For who ever reads this,
This is a bit different than what I’ve see. But I feel it should be said;
My Grandparents were always there for me. Early on in life I remember making cookies with my sister and grandma spending countless days, weekends, and sometimes weeks together. I don’t remember much before my grandma first became unwell, however I do remember all my sports, clubs, and activities I got to participate in with the help of my grandparents. I spent many years of my childhood in various activities and I know my grandma and grandpa would help any of us as much as they could. I remember my grandma as the caring, loving, supportive, and strong willed woman she is and always will be. Grandma fought hard to make every environment she went into a better place and my grandfather always did his best to support along the way. After grandma was unable to go out and support the ways she used to, my grandfather did everything he could to make it possible for her. I remember all those years we went camping together where Serenity, Sisemo, Grandpa, Grandma, and I spent at the countless provincial parks. I know your favourite moments were when you felt the water with your feet. It was hard work for all of us to get you there, but I’m glad we got to. Spending countless hours with my grandparents was so peaceful even when the car had a moment or two. We all struggled but the outcome of the beaches were worth our time. Grandma you spent years helping everyone around you and I hope my small time of helping you was had the same impact as every other impact you made everywhere else. I know my grandma is free and I’m sure she’s making even more impacts wherever she is. Grandma, you made the world a beautiful place no matter how dull it can be. And you fought hard each and every day and I’m proud to call Diane Risler my grandma and to call Anthony Risler my grandfather. You two spent a long journey together and I’m so glad and thankful I was welcomed to be included in such a small portion both your lives. I love you both.
You’re granddaughter

As a teenager hanging out at your place, Diane often spent time talking to us and sharing stories. I always remember one evening we were sitting in the kitchen and she was talking about love and relationships. She said the funniest thing and it pays tribute to her love for Tony. She said “the first time you get married, you marry for Love ❤️. But, if you get married a second time make sure it’s for money.” She continued to say “but hey, I didn’t even follow my own advice, I married for love both times”.
She always looked at her husband with loving eyes and always took time to make sure “we” the mob of teenagers that always hung out at their place were ok. She was a beautiful woman, I’m sorry for your loss. Hugs and prayers for your family. May she Rest In Peace.

I was sad to hear about Diane's passing. She was loved by many and her passing will leave a void in our lives. I enjoyed getting to know her at celebrations and events and visiting with her over the years. Your family shared many stories about her life with me, and although I wish I had gotten to know her before her illness, I was happy that I was able to know her for the time that I did.
Those we love don't ever leave us, they walk with us every day, not seen or heard, but within us. We are forever changed by the power of their love and the moments we shared with them.
