Brought my children into the world, mentored me in aviation, introduced me to Earnest K. Gann. The world's a better place because he was here.

Dr. Chuck was a classic family physician - he made house calls! As our family physician from 1966 until his retirement from medicine, I always enjoyed appointments. Whatever the problem he handled it professionally, with empathy and ensured complete understanding of the situation - he used to sketch the specific part of the body to provide complete clarity. An appointment usually went overtime -- particularly when the subject shifted to music or aviation. I hope the video still exists of him dressed in full uniform with a broad grin at the controls of an aircraft on his 90th birthday. Bravo. To Stacie and the rest of the family my remembrances are strong as I know yours are too. High Flight. Susan Agranove

I feel very fortunate to have known Charles Spurgeon. He had a fine love of Music. And we had some excellent visits, listening and discussing it. It was a great pleasure to share his devotion for the music we both enjoyed so much.
Also I truly admired his great style. He had class! I would kid him telling him ‘Cary Grant will never out-dress you’. No one ever looked better in a cravat!
I will miss him very much.

I would like to send my condolences to all the family and hope you know he holds a special part in many peoples hearts. So many thoughts and memories of him .... He always took those extra few minutes ... I can hear his calming voice as he was my doctor throughout my life as a child and adult. His amazing advice to my parents when I hit the teen years that if they wanted to keep me out of trouble they should get me a horse .... love that so much and loved my many years of having horses from then on. He had a casual wit and an amazing grin when he delivered my first born and immediately told me "Kid look at the mess you made of me" and should he go and call Charley and Helen (my parents) with the news. His friendship with my father and their shared experiences was a gift to our family.
Warm thoughts and hugs

Dr. Spurgeon was a good friend of my dad, Ed Dalgity. Through the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association and the 427London Wing they shared their stories of WWII and love of flying. Their mutual respect for each other spanned decades. I hope they are resuming their friendship in the great skies beyond. My condolences to all of the family.

I knew Roz through horses and therefore Charles by association. He was always friendly to me and seemed to have a twinkle in his eye. It is certainly the end of an era and a generation we can all hope to emulate in courage, dedication and bravery. My deepest sympathies to his family.
