As someone who saw David on a fairly regular basis, the statements do certainly resonate in my mind. It was a pleasure to know him. As a fellow guitar player (folk and some country) I can identify with the pleasure it brings. As a woodworker, I can appreciate the peace it provides. As a sailor, I get much pleasure from that activity and I recognize the kind of effort it takes to serve as Commodore.
I am sorry to hear of David's passing and I appreciate that Barb passed on the link to his memory. My sincere condolences.

For David's family and friends, Rest in Peace my friend. Through your wife Diana, I was able to get to know you and enjoy a bonfire - both at your place and mine, coffee and treats at the farmhouse, and music by the lake. Rick and I (Lake Huron Yacht CLub) plus through my work I was in touch with him at St. Clair Child and Youth where he did a marvelous job. We were devastated to read today of David's sudden passing. Beautiful memorial in the Journal; suited him perfectly. We are certainly thinking of you during this very difficult time. My wife and I have been away since December and I was unaware that David had died in January. This is indeed sad news. During my thirty years as director of Huron House Boys Home, David and I worked together on many local children and youth committees, educational committees, plus the creation of the Child & Youth Worker Program at Lambton College. David was a leader. We did not always agree, and that was what made our working relationship a good one. However, there was no question of the level of respect I had for David. He has left his mark on the community. My thoughts are with his family. Ken

I really miss listening to him practice while I danced around cleaning for him and Diana! Everytime Brown Eyed Girl comes on I see his smile and can hear him strumming away in his music room. My love goes out to Diana and his kitties. Rock In Peace David!
