My deepest condolences to the Allan family. I sat beside Tom for many years at Canada Revenue Agency. He was one of the nicest, gentle, beautiful natured person I have met. It was a joy to go to work. He always made me smile and laugh.
Rest in peace my dear friend, you were so loved on this Earth.

Dear Lisa, Matthew, Riley, Emerson, Charlotte, Roy, Susan and Scott:
We have known Tom for well over 30 years and it is very difficult to imagine life without him. The lovely tributes given by others reflect on all the qualities we have known in Tom….kindness, compassion, gentleness, great sense of humour and fun, love of nature, a genuine interest in others, humble and just a ‘nice guy’ all around. We miss him very much.
We shall stay in touch and you know we are here when you need us.
A part of a poem entitled Farewell by Anne Bronte may give you some comfort…
Farewell to thee but not farewell
To all my fondest thoughts of thee
Within my heart they still shall dwell;
And they shall cheer and comfort me.
Sue and Bob Arn and family

The memory I want to share shows how Tom lived and touched others' lives. I was just getting to know the Allan family (>20yrs now) as our daughters played together, they were 4 years old at the time! One morning, Lisa and Tom were taking Charolette for a walk in the forest and invited our daughter, Jessica. I was free, so I asked to join them. They agreed, and off we went. Warbler woods is hilly and Jess was getting tired; the next thing I saw was Tom with Jess sitting on his shoulder, high up in the air, enjoying the fact she was the tallest in the group! Tom alternated between Charlotte and Jess, on his shoulders, most of the walk.
Another memory of Tom's kindness; I was working and Josh and Riley were biking. Josh was hit by a car and Riley called Tom; he went to the site of the accident to check on Josh and Riley. When I heard what happened and Tom's caring; I was very grateful!
During his life, Tom raised people up, brought joy to their hearts, made others feel important and of value! His infectious smile and sense of humor caused the same in those around him! He loved deeply and had great pride in his family! Tom's light will shine always in the hearts and minds of all those who were lucky enough to know him!
Thank you Tom for the wonderful memories and for touching our family's lives! I know you are only a thought away. May Love and Light guide your Soul always! Love Barb Ashbourne
To Lisa, Matt, Emerson, Riley, and Charlotte; you are amazing people and all of you have touched our family in so many wonderful ways (just like your husband/dad did)....please know that we are here for you - just call...time or distance cannot keep those who care about you, away!
Love Barb, Carl, Josh, and Jessica Jadischke

Dearest Lisa, Matthew, Riley, Emerson and Charlotte; I spoke to my daughters today about the passing of Tom. My identical twin daughters Julie and Courtney went to school with your identical twin boys, and we all thought that your family was just the best. There was sooo much love between the parents, and between the parents and 4 kids. Lisa, you and Tom raised an amazing family together, that Tom was certainly proud of. I remember Tom being such a kind and gentle soul. He was so happy that Charlotte completed your family. Lisa, I know what a strong person you are and that you'll be the "rock" for your kids. I also know that your kids will give you the comfort that you'll need also. Find comfort in your family and friends. My girls and I feel so badly for the loss of your loving husband and great Dad. Much love, Lori, Julie, Courtney and Caitlin MacInnes. xoxoxoxo

I could not be more grateful for everything Tom gave me by being the father of my best friend. He made me laugh every time I saw him and always made me feel warm and safe. I knew he'd be ready to accept anything I threw at him and he never let me down. Getting to speak with him over the phone a few weeks ago and hear how excited he was to hear about my life and schoolwork while he was dealing with everything that was going on really showcased who he was. Such a kind and thoughtful man. I didn't get to know him enough and still I miss him dearly. Sending love to the whole family.

My deepest condolences to you Lisa, and to the children. Tom was a very special man. I consider myself very fortunate to have known him. He always spoke of you Lisa and of the children. He taught me to be a better parent. How it is the small things that make a difference. Like an occasional extra $5 to have fries with your friends, to feel part of the gang. It seems like such a simple thing and yet is so important.
Tom made work life bearable. His wit and humour made for an enjoyable work day. I am so thankful for the many days and years we spent in the same pod. His kindness, wisdom, genuineness will live on in our memories.

My condolences to Lisa, Matt Riley, Emerson & Charlotte, Tom was a great husband & father too you guys, we will all miss him dearly. I’ve known Tom 47 years since we were 18, he was always there when I needed a friend to talk to, we use to make each other laugh so hard we were in tears. I still remember the time when he was attending Western & he asked me to go play tennis, we were driving along in his little MG convertible towards the gate of the parking lot on campus, I said “ Tom the gate is down” his reply, don’t worry Ron, we flew under that gate, I don’t think Tom ever paid for parking. Tom loved European cars but never got into muscle cars, last summer when he found out he couldn’t drive any longer I came by & picked him up in my mustang & took him for a good rip down to Pt. Stanley & back, he loved it, told me after that he now loved muscle cars also. I must say Tom was my best friend & always will be, I’m going to miss him. See you down the road bud !

I bumped into Tom a couple times after his retirement, always with a smile and a chuckle when we got caught up. The last chance meeting was at Angel’s where Tom and his family were enjoying a meal together which must have included Diet Coke. While Tom was still working we would meet for morning break at McDonald’s. Tom only had Diet Coke. Neil, Tracey and I shared in many stories. Tom’s always included updates on his kids. He was so proud. My condolences to Lisa and family.

Growing up I always knew Mr. Allan as Emerson and Riley’s dad, a man who seemed kind and always willing to stop and chat with my parents at school functions. The last several years I got to know Tom a little bit as a person, when he became a regular at my workplace. He was the kind of person whom you’d smile when you saw enter the store - the kind of person you’d make sure you always had their soda on tap for; and he was always willing to brag about his children whenever I asked how they were doing. Even when the day may not have been the most kind to him, he noticeably handled it with strength and grace. My sincerest of condolences to the entire family. ❤️

What a shock to hear of Tom's passing. Tom was always so relaxed and mellow it's hard to believe he's gone so soon. Tom was one of my pod mates when I first began working at CRA. As others have also noted, his sense of humour, his cartoons, his apparent love of raw rhubarb, and many more signature "Tom Allan" moments will be remembered forever. Although I've never met you Lisa, Matthew, Riley, Emerson and Charlotte, Tom certainly made sure we all knew how proud he was to be your husband and father. My wife Karen and I share in your grief.

Tom never failed to make people smile or laugh. His jokes and gags were legendary, as were the cartoons he drew of various CRA/Revenue Canada staffers, myself included.
Tom was always easygoing in his demeanour and approach, and uplifting too. On a bad work day, he made working in the office much more bearable.
We shall not see his like again soon, he was truly one of a kind. I will always keep his memory in high esteem. He will be missed.
