Contributions to the tribute of Duncan Bain

I just heard about Duncan's passing at the Robert Hodder Memorial at Western a couple days ago....I was so saddened to hear this. I first met Duncan at a short course on Abitibi gold deposits at Western in 2012 and we sat together and he had great things to say about Bob Hodder's ongoing field work and curiosity and how he was such a good mentor to Duncan. Like Duncan had done I was returning to a PhD study at advanced age so we immediately hit it off and exchanged email for some time and I just expected to see him at more events, even this week. One thing he did remark in email which I did not prompt out of him but will always remember.....'Dave, give me a holler anytime you need any help on the thesis'. He was very kind and genuine about it.

Sad to hear this news about Duncan. We attended Western together for our undergraduate Geology degrees and enjoyed the student life, field trips, fun times at the pubs and occasionally meeting up in Vancouver at the Cordilleran Roundup exploration conference. He seemed to always be busy going to various countries around the world doing mineral exploration work. We will miss him greatly. In 2018 I will dedicate my sixth BC Ride To Conquer Cancer to Duncan Bain PhD Ted and Karen Fuller Victoria, BC.
