“Rosina”
Her real name is Rosina Elizabeth Queen Anne, I know this because she told me. I checked with Mom, “Yes it is, but they won’t let us put it on the birth certificate “, She said with a laugh. Rosie was proud of that name and lived up to the exalted standards, even more than royalty.
She graced us with her presence for only 95 years, how we wish it were longer. She was graceful and elegant in all that she did, and everyone that knew her loved her for it.
She was the most compassionate person we ever knew, which coupled with her beauty made her a very rare combination indeed. She excelled at everything she did.
When she was young all the little girls in the neighbourhood would collect the fee to send her to dancing classes, so she could teach them when she came back. She danced professionally as one of the Sherman Fisher Girls, dance troupe and was its leading performer. I always remember the number they did, each one was a different jewel. Rosie of course was the diamond, and she was a diamond throughout her life. When she was between tours she needed to keep fit and I would help with one particular exercise where she would stand back against the wall and high kick.
I would catch her leg and push up until her foot touched the wall, not many people can do that.
How she will be missed, her beauty, the sparkle in her eyes, her laugh when something amused her and the sympathetic arm round the shoulders if you were upset, not that it happened often when Rosie was around. She lifted everybody’s spirits up, the room would light up when she was around. The world was graced by her presence for only 95 years, how we wish it were longer. Sleep well my beautiful sister, you can rest now. You made the world a better place, blessing us for 95 years, time to rest now. We’ll always love you. From your loving brother, Joe. God will bless you. Rest now.
