Obituary of Wendy Gail Ruddle

Wendy Ruddle (Roberts, Sutherland) of London Ontario passed away May 3, 82 years young, at St Thomas Elgin General Hospital surrounded by family. Survived by loving husband of 38 years, Frederick Ruddle and children Nancy Hilborn (Dan) of London, Patricia Bobier (Wayne) of Thamesville and Paul Roberts (Louise) of Burlington. Beloved by grandchildren Quinton Wilson, Aidan and Holly Hilborn, Kai and Taj Roberts. Also survived by her sister Suzette Sutherland and brothers Harley Sutherland (Pat) and David Sutherland (Jackie) and sister-in-law Audrey Derii (Gord) and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Suzette and Edward Sutherland and brother Warren Sutherland (Kathy).


Wendy was born in Toronto, grew up in Grimsby Ontario, graduating from Grimsby Secondary School. She became a teacher and eventually a Principal, obtaining her Masters of Education from Brock in 1994. Friends will remember her from the long list of activities she enjoyed through her life including dance, gardening, skiing, golf, tai chi, and nature.


She will be missed by many, particularly in Owen Sound, where her circles of great friends overlapped between the Georgian Shores United Church, the Tai Chi Society, the Georgian Bay Garden Club and Legacy Ridge Golf Club. Many will remember her exuberance celebrating community events like the Owen Sound Festival of Northern Lights.


A celebration of life will be held in London Ontario at a date yet to be determined. Online condolences and memorial donations to Lyme Ontario, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or Georgian Shores United Church may be made at www.woodlandcemetery.ca. Arrangements entrusted to Woodland Cemetery.
