Obituary of Lawrence Kelterborn

Lawrence (Larry) Kelterborn, 91, passed away suddenly Friday, November 10, 2017 at his home in London, Ontario with his loving wife Marguerite (Marg) by his side. Larry was born August 4, 1926 in Niagara Falls ON. He is predeceased by his parents Walter (Butch) & Nellie Kelterborn and his sister June Miller (nee Kelterborn) of Stratford ON.

Larry was a WWII veteran and was a proud participant in all Remembrance Day Parades up until 2013 when he moved to London, ON. Larry started his apprenticeship at the CNR shops in Stratford in 1942 and worked there as a machinist until he joined the Ministry of Environment (previously the Ontario Water Resources Commission). The family relocated to Oakville ON in 1960 when he was transferred to Toronto head office. He retired in 1987 and enjoyed his retirement with family, golfing, travelling, family projects, historian for the family and being a `Pardna` to everyone he met.

Larry was an advocate of a healthy lifestyle and was a member of the Burlington YMCA for 39 years and a member of the `Post Cardiac` group.  He continued on his fitness regime at his home gym in London where he was admired by his family and friends for his dedication to his personal health. He will be remembered for his commemorative personal ‘Hallmark’ cards to all that knew him and for his quick wit and sense of humour. Larry is the true patriarch of his large, loving family and was committed to ensuring all felt his love each and every day. Family was everything to him.

Larry met his beautiful bride, Marguerite Matilda LeSouder in Stratford, ON and they were married on November 27, 1947. They had a 70+ loving relationship that was admired by all.

Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Marguerite, loving father of Lynn (Ian) Cameron, London, ON, Larry (Jill) Kelterborn, Waterdown, ON, Denise (Kendall) Bonnar, London, ON and Kerri (Jamie) Lomax, Brantford, ON. He is predeceased by his son Mark Kelterborn. Cherished Papa of his thirteen grandchildren; Mike, Tracey, Cara, Kenzie, Caitlin, Andrea, Lauren, Blake, Josh, Taylor, Cody, Brandon and Kilee. He is “Papa-the-Great” to his seven great-grandchildren; Gavin, Nolan, Shae, Noah, Dawson, Luca and Beau. Larry will be sadly missed by his relatives and friends in Stratford, Burlington and London.

A private inurnment will take place as per Larry’s wishes  on November 17th at Woodland Cemetery, and a “Celebration of Life” for all family and friends in the spirit of Larry, will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2017 from 1- 4 pm at the Branch 501 Lambeth Legion, 7097 Kilbourne Road, Lambeth, Ontario.
