Mike Leenders was a professor that made a difference in my life. He was authentic and loved what he did. He was inspriing and just a lovely human being. May he rest in peace. My thoughts are with his family. I am sure he will be missed.

The Leenders family and Canada have lost one of the country's greatest teaching professors.
I arrived at Ivey and headed for my first Operations class expecting a quiet session if a field that was sometimes challenging to make exciting. Within a few minutes Michiel had me hanging on the edge of my seat during his class. The enthusiasm and pure joy in the subject that he brought to class every day was remarkable. Amazing field trips to production plants and not a moment wasted in class or discussion were the hallmarks of Michiel's educating style. This guy was brilliant in his field. I expect all his teaching terms ended the way ours' did in a standing ovation for the professor, which elicited a modest smile of appreciation. I was fortunate to be one of his students. What a legacy Michiel leaves us!!!

My condolences to you, Louise, in the loss of a fine man and soulmate. I had the pleasure to be a student of Prof. Leenders in the Experimental Section 3 back in 1974-75. His classroom manner was as solid and inviting as any teacher I've ever had. I also recall a pleasant evening in your living room about 10 years later, when you were envisaging a French-language Cub Scout pack. Mike joined in the discussion but clearly allowed you to lead the way. My son, David, went on to enrol and enjoy the experience. May you savour the past 47 years together, and may Mike rest in peace after a life well lived.

I remember Mike from the time when I was a student in his class at the Business
School at Western. Without a doubt he was one of the most memorable and influential of our professors. Even today, some 55 years later, I clearly recall his classes, his insights, his humour. Returning for several milestone reunions, he never failed to recognize me as a past student. I offer my sincere condolences to his family and hope that fond memories of happy times past will bring you comfort.
