Jean Tucker

Obituary of Jean Margaret Tucker

October 12, 1935 - January 5, 2024

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jean Margaret Tucker, our beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend. Jean died on January 5, 2024, with her family by her side.  Jean was pre-deceased by her much loved husband Stan, and leaves behind daughters Leanne (Jeff) and Glynis, as well as her adored granddaughter, Kassidy.

Born in England on October 12, 1935, Jean embarked on a life journey that would take her across continents. After tying the knot with Stan in 1955, the couple embarked on a new chapter together, immigrating to Mississauga, Ontario.

Jean initially worked as an executive secretary at Wood Gundy before dedicating herself to raising her family in 1966. A year later, she and Stan moved to Delaware, Ontario when Stan was transferred by the Ford Motor Company to their plant in Talbotville. Jean, always one to embrace new challenges, began the then-unconventional role of being one of Canada's first female school bus drivers, which she enjoyed for over 15 years. She also actively volunteered at Delaware Central Public School, pouring her creativity into sewing costumes for school performances and accompanying students on class excursions.

After retiring from bus driving, Jean later found a new career at Sears Masonville where she worked at the catalogue customer service counter and formed a lasting friendship with her dear companion, Eileen.

Jean's life was woven with the threads of friendship, and she cherished the memories of good times spent with those dear to her, many of whom preceded her in death. Her life became a little quieter in her later years, but she always remembered the laughter and the fun they had together - no doubt a fabulous party is taking place now that "Queen Jean" has rejoined the gang again.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to the exceptional care teams at Parkwood Palliative and University Hospital 4th Floor.

Following Jean's wishes, she will be interred after a private family ceremony at Woodland Cemetery. In lieu of donations or flowers, Jean's family encourages you to share a memory or condolence on her Tribute Wall.
