Gordon Brown

Obituary of Gordon Frederick Brown

After a life well lived, it is with much sadness that the family of Gordon "Gord" Brown announces his peaceful passing on January 20th at LHSC, in his 89th year.   He leaves behind his loving wife Phyllis ‘Sissy’ of almost 65 years.

Predeceased by his parents Frederick and Ethel Brown, sister Dorothy (Wendell) Phillips and brother Winston (Ruth) Brown, sisters-in-law Shirley (Jimmy) Fraser and Lois (Donny) Hill.  He will be greatly missed by his children Scott (Mary) Brown, Shawn (Cynthia) Brown, grandchildren William (Emma), Kayla, Katelyn, Jeffery and Jordan, many nieces and nephews, sister Valerie Parks and brother-in-law Eric (Sheila) Graham.

Gord was born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island but considered Fredericton, New Brunswick ‘home’.  It was there, almost 77 years ago, that he first met Sissy who would one day be his wife, greatest supporter and loving caregiver until his last days.

In retirement, Gord curled at the Highland Curling Club and was an avid golfer, hitting the course 3 times a week with the ‘Young at Heart’ men’s league.  Gord will be fondly remembered by many.

Thank you to those who assisted Gord in recent months, especially Daniel, Amaka, Denise and the Palliative team at LHSC.  Special thanks to Dr. Omar Al-Azem for your exceptional kindness.

Cremation has taken place.  A celebration of Gord’s life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
