Obituary of Nansi Cox
In Memory of Nansi Cox (nee Edwards), who died peacefully at home, Southbridge Long Term Care in London, on Tuesday, February 20th in her 95th year. Nansi was the beloved wife of 62 years to Mike (predeceased) and caring mother to Jane, John, and Elizabeth. She was a proud and loving Mamgu to Paul and Emily and very special friend to Leann and Leighton.
Nansi was born in Llanelli, Wales and was educated as a nurse and midwife. She came to Canada in 1956 as an adventure and to continue her nursing career at London’s Victoria Hospital. It was here she met and married Mike, making a home for their family in London. Nansi enjoyed various nursing roles throughout her working life, but she often said her most cherished roles were those of wife, mother and Mamgu. Nansi was a good friend to many enjoying a wide circle of friends from many walks of life, staying connected even though many lived a great distance away.
Nansi was a creative talent and enjoyed among other things reading, writing, and embroidery. In her retirement she was a devoted member of the Canadian Embroiderers’ Guild, London. Mom was a faithful member of Saint Michael and All Angels church. She enjoyed singing in various choirs, being one of the founding members of the Canadian Welsh Choir. Nansi enjoyed traveling within Canada, and back often to Wales and England to visit family. Mexico was a favourite winter destination, and in 1997 they embarked on a worldwide tour.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Chelsey Park and Southbridge, for their compassion and care.
Cremation has taken place and Nansi’s life will be celebrated in a private family gathering planned for a later date.
