Obituary of Patricia Ann Hurrell

Patricia Ann Hurrell of London, Ontario passed away peacefully on April 15, 2024. Patricia is the much loved mother of John, Stephen and Leanne (Andrew). She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren Magdalyn (Dylan), Aidan (Sara), Cailen and her great grandchildren Griffin, Phoebe and Quillan. She was predeceased by the love of her life and husband Bertie George Hurrell on August 7, 2020.

Patricia's early career spanned from working as a secretary at GM, CN Rail and for the Academy of Medicine. Her determination to work towards a better life put a fire in her belly to keep striving for more. On a fateful evening at the YMCA she would meet her future husband Bert. Within nine months they would be wed and begin their journey to build the family she so desired. Patricia and Bert's marriage was one of great love, strength and unity. Working harmoniously together they created the family business, Hurrell Sheet Metal. Their devotion and commitment to each other for 57 years was inspiring and a great source of pride for our family.

Patricia's love of dance and music was a passion they equally shared. They belonged to dance clubs and gained many wonderful friendships along the way. They travelled on many exciting trips across Europe and beyond, delighting in all the wonders they would see. They were avid campers, hauling a trailer across Canada and the United States. Patricia was a vibrant and joyful woman. She had the ability to bring so much happiness to others with her humour and spirit. Touching friends and strangers alike with a spark of life and genuine care. She was the beating heart of our family, bringing such joy and delight to all occasions. She would dance freely at any moment, at any time without hesitation. Always the one to seek a little fun she would don costumes, put on a skit or give a silly gift just to make someone smile. Never the wallflower she loved all things weird and wonderful. She was a little fireball with nonstop energy. As a woman of faith, God and the Church were of great significance in her life. She found freedom in knowing she was loved beyond all measure.

To summarize her so simply is a difficult task, but one we hope encompasses a feeling of a life well lived. We give our mother to our Heavenly Father knowing she will be welcomed home with open arms and a loving embrace. Bert will be found waiting to take her hand, never to be parted again.

Patricia will be laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery along side her husband. A private ceremony will be held in her honour. At her request donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of London.
