Obituary of Margaret MacFarlane Hunter

October 25, 1946- June 11,2024

With tremendous grief and heartache, we announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful, sweet and lovely mom, grandma, sister, aunt and friend, Margaret Hunter of London, who left us on June 11th at the age of 77, with her loving family at her side.

She has gone to be happily reunited with the love of her life Bill Hunter (2019), her beloved husband whom she missed so very much. Their dancing, dining, companionship and true love for each other is now eternally together. We find huge comfort in knowing that dad’s arms were open waiting for her. She was a very proud, adored and loving mom to Kim (Frederic) and Todd (Danielle) who will forever be grateful for her unconditional love and comfort to us. She never wavered in her love and concern for us and we will carry on her legacy of love and strength and concern for others. She beamed with pride over her four grandchildren Owen, James, Carter and Cameron who all loved her so much. Her family was so important, and she will be missed immensely by her older sister and best friend Ann, her younger ‘birthday twin’ sister Bobbie and her extended family John and Donna. She will be fondly remembered by many special nieces and nephews.

She will miss and be missed by her community and friends in Utterson, Muskoka where she spent all of her summers over a span of 60 years and enjoyed her times so much.

Margaret was so kind, graceful, thoughtful, positively determined and wonderfully brave. Her sense of humor and gentle spirit and kindness were evident to all that were lucky to know her. Her beautiful penmanship was known, and she delighted everyone with her thoughtful cards she always mailed, her perfect cursive writing always recognized at the mailbox of many.

She was so touched and in appreciation of all the love and support, visits and messages from family and friends over the last difficult months that made her feel very special and cared about. She demonstrated strength and courage and hope with amazing grace, an individual to inspire us all.

The family would like to send an enormous thank you to all the caregivers, staff and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London, they helped us navigate this difficult journey with such compassion and care. In remembrance of Margaret’s generous spirit and kindness, family, friends and loved ones are invited to consider donations to https://www.sjhospicelondon.com/gifts-in-memoriam

As per mom’s request there will be a celebration of her life at a later date to share memories and time together.
