Obituary of Ronald Melville Norton

Ronald Melville Norton, aged 79, of London Ontario, passed away on June 12th 2024 after a long battle with both cancer and Parkinson's.

Ron was born on April 3rd 1945 to Kathleen and Melville Norton in Toronto, Ontario.  In 1969, Ron married Emily Sergautis in Toronto. Ron and Emily went on to have two children, Michael and Steven.  

After graduating from high school, and working for Bell Canada, he started his career as a Surveyor with the Ministry of Transportation, later becoming an Inspector.  Ron was a devoted union member, serving as both the Treasurer and President with OPSEU Local 209.  After retiring from the Ministry, Ron worked for several years as a Civil Technician.  

In his spare time, he enjoyed coin and stamp collecting, luncheons with friends, genealogy, and technology.  He was especially fond of time spent playing video games with his three grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his sons Michael and Steven (Kelli), his grandchildren Christine, Charlie and Violet, his sister Sharon, and many beloved nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Emily, sister Nancy and his brother Douglas.  

Those who were close to Ron knew that he was a man of few words and seldom wanted to be the centre of attention.  In lieu of a funeral service, we ask those who would like to honour his memory to spend quiet time with family and friends.
