Obituary of Carol Wileen Grosse
GROSSE, Carol Wileen
May 8, 1946 – October 11, 2024
Carol passed away peacefully at home with Glen, her husband of 56 wonderful years, by her side. Carol was a gift from the East Coast to Ontario. With love and dedication she raised two great children: Christopher Grosse (Pamela) and Dayna Carter (Jeff). Fortunate to call Carol “Nana” were her cherished grandchildren, Cameron and Megan Grosse and Jared and Joya Carter.
Carol’s family was the centre of her world. She greatly enriched special occasions and everyday moments. She had a wonderful way of making each of us feel valued and important. Carol modeled how to bring joy to others and how to love well. She will always be with us – especially on Christmas, her favourite season to celebrate. Through a myriad of interests, Carol’s kindness, caring and generous nature touched many lives. Her various pastimes included cooking, shopping, chocolate creations, music, curling and trips to Europe with her sweetheart Glen.
Carol taught yoga for over 45 years, building a community and forging friendships that went beyond the exercise classes. She took great care in developing her classes, incorporating humour, and offering modifications to exercises so everyone could participate, enjoy her class, and leave feeling refreshed and relaxed. She also worked at several elementary and secondary schools plus three universities. Carol’s strength and humour were outstanding. True to her character, she provided much support to her loved ones during her ordeal with cancer and kept her sense of humour until the end.
Carol’s family would like to thank her many friends for their support over the last ten months. Also, much thanks and appreciation to the medical staff at London Regional Cancer Centre and the excellent care provided by St. Elizabeth, particularly her primary nurse, Ajeesh Soman. Thank you to Dr. Adam Beswick for his compassionate care and ensuring Carol’s comfort, and to Dr. Eric Nicholls for many years of exceptional care.
A celebration of life is being deferred while Carol’s immediate family cherishes the wonderful blessings Carol provided and cope with this deep loss. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to a charity of your choice and an act of kindness like Carol would have done.
