My mother and Colin's mother were sisters........2 of 11 children born to Hannah & Thomas Arthur of Queenstown South Australia.........I have special memories of Colin's parents Aunty Ev and Uncle Perc who lived in Port Pirie South Australia with Colin and his sister Elaine.
Colin was very fortunate the day he arrived in Montreal, where he eventually met Joan and settled into married life in Canada and was very happy..........Canada is also a special place to me as I have a Canadian grandson who was born in Nova Scotia........
Colin's visits home to Australia were always happy times.......I remember one visit particularly when there was a party at Granny Arthur's with many family members there (we did have a large family) stories were being told with lots of dancing and laughter.....lovely memories.
As life went on I lost touch with Colin but then managed to find him again through Allyson a few years ago and spent many happy hours either on the telephone or on video calls reminiscing about our family life in days gone by........so another link in the circle of life has broken......Colin will be very much missed by his family and sister Elaine..........
My deepest sympathy to you all......Lorraine Gunn........Adelaide South Australia

Colin and I were colleagues in the financial markets in Toronto. A well informed and generous man who knew the markets and his clients. We were so pleased to be present at the wedding of Colin and Suzanne. Our condolences to his family who will miss a charming and kind man.

I met Colin in September of 2023 as soon as my husband Bruce and I became residents of Windermere on the Mount. My son Daniel Crowell was eager for me to meet his long time employer. Daniel was Colin’s gardener for about 20 years. Colin and Daniel became more than a business connection. They became friends. Dan loved Colin’s stories, and Colin eager to tell them. They had fun together and treasured their friendship. Colin and Joan used to offer Daniel’s two daughters presents on all special occasions. After their move to Windermere, Daniel came to visit with him in his last years. How welcoming they were to Daniel!
Colin took time to tell me of his love for Dan and his family.
As I grew closer to Colin while living here, I saw his care for all residents. If problems arose, Colin championed the cause of finding solutions for the betterment of all who live here.
Showing his true affection for all the community who live here, he celebrated his wedding with Suzanne with everyone invited. What a magnificent gesture which equaled his enormous heart!
Colin was bigger than life, and is probably maneuvering so that all his friends and family will have the happiest time prepared for them in the Heaven, where he now resides.
We are all bereft of his beautiful smile, dancing eyes, joyous energy, great stories, and the calling out of our names in happy greeting.
We, with our precious Suzanne, will never forget his abundant love.
Donna Crowell and Bruce Swinden

Colin will be missed by all who had the honour to know him. Colin made an impact on our family and I can’t imagine another who in such a short period of time could become as big a part of our lives as he. Colin and my father were as thick as thieves and hopefully they can meet again and tell all their stories again.

Sad to hear of the passing of Colin. My name is Bryan and I am one of his nephews in Australia (his sister Elaine’s son). Over the many years of his life I met Colin on several occasions. Once in Adelaide , two occasions when he accompanied me and friends on 4 wheel drive trips across the deserts of South Australia and the last time in 2016 when he visited my family being me, Kathy (my wife) mum Elaine, Michael (brother) Jannine (sister) Geoff (brother in law) in France (Paris and Fontvielle) for a couple of weeks. I have spoken to the Australian family and collectively we always found him to be energetic (despite his age), a great raconteur, generous in nature, gentlemanly, empathetic, a lover of life, obviously proud of his family in Australia and Canada and, in our collective views, one of life’s nicest people. Mum Elaine remained in contact with Col regularly through his life via phone or FaceTime etc. She was very close to him and together they shared many good times and memories. All of us (and clearly mum) will all miss him dearly. Col you lived a great life and now it’s time to Rest in Peace.
