Obituary of Ronald A. Jones
“Ron” Jones passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016, in his 76th year at Victoria Hospital surrounded by his family.
Ron is survived by his wife Maureen and will be greatly missed by his sons Robert (Jayne), Brian, David (Sherry), and Ron Jr. (Jennifer). Ron is the loving grandfather of Jenna, William, Ashleigh, Sherus, Shane, Ian and Calum and great-grandfather to Hayden and Elise. Ron was instrumental in negotiating apprenticeships within the automobile industry in Canada. He was a proud member of the C.A.W. Local 1520 where he was also long time Skilled Trades Chair. Ron was a long standing member of the London and Area Skilled Trades Council; a member of the C.A.W. National Executive Board and Past President of Skilled Trades Council of Canada. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and union brothers and sisters. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will occur at Woodland Cemetery in London, Ontario.
All those who know and love Ron are welcome to join in a celebration of his life which will be held on Sunday, August 14th from 2pm to 6pm at the Marconi Club 120 Clarke Rd. London Ontario.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charitable fund which has been set up in Ron’s memory. This fund will support local Thames Valley District School Board high school youth in London and St. Thomas that are pursuing apprenticeships in skilled trades, an investment which was a significant part of Ron’s life’s work.
